Journeyman Electrician

Shinnova Solar is seeking a Licensed Journeyman Electrician for the Des Moines area. The electrician is responsible for installing residential photovoltaic (PV) systems and provides excellent service, ensuring a positive customer experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Install electrical service equipment, wiring, and devices required for the installation of residential and light commercial solar PV systems.
• Install projects as contracted and designed.
• Obtain all required materials to complete the assigned project, including renting special construction equipment if necessary.
• Proper installation of required materials.
• All electrical work meets or exceeds National Electrical Code 2017 as well as local jurisdiction requirements.
• All projects are completed in a workman-like manner.
• Resolve project, customer, and staff escalations.
• Review project packets for completeness and accuracy.
• Ensure a quality installation experience for the customer.
• Troubleshoot PV systems and resolve electrical issues.
• Oversee and effectively communicate with local inspectors.
• Ensure all projects pass jurisdiction requirements.
• Communicate and coordinate with territory Project Manager and Superintendent
• Maintain and enforce safety and training programs.
• Work independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Reports directly to the Superintendent .
• Create a positive work environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

It is not required that you’ve worked in the solar industry; however, experience in a construction environment is a plus!

• Must have an active Journeyman Electrician license.
• Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed and grow
• Ability to calculate total load amperage ratings, wattages, KW & KVA sizes.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the project.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skill
• Professional appearance and demeanor, with excellent communication skills.
• Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed.
• Strong work ethic
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.vercome objections during the appointment setting process

Role

Requirements

Solar Installer

Role

The Solar Installer will be part of Shinnova Solar’s Field team. As an integral member of the team, the ideal candidate will work cooperatively with other team members to successfully complete the installation of residential PV solar systems safely and timely. ● Additional duties required as needed

Requirements

● Roof work, general construction, or carpentry experience strongly preferred
● Ability to safely handle tools and materials such as: ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel
boards, batteries, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
● Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc.)
● Capable of working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs; and
performing repetitive duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time
● Experience using basic hand and power tools
● Basic computer skills preferred
● Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Must have excellent customer service skills
● Must have a valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites

Project Manager

The Project Manager has the overall responsibility for planning and overseeing solar installation projects to ensure the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, and closure of a project. The details of this position are as follows:

  • Coordinate installation schedules and staffing to ensure on-time completion of projects
  • Coordinate inspections in adherence to company set timelines
  • Confirm monitoring is working for all installations
  • Ensure all necessary licensure requirements and certifications are kept up to date
  • Maintain excellent communication with customers throughout the installation process, recording all interactions in the company’s CRM
